Pure Cornwall are delighted to add Church Close Cottage to our portfolio. The cottage sleeps up to six guests and is one of two delightful, restored 19th century buildings within the idyllic grounds of Cusgarne House. Cusgarne is a peaceful village midway between Truro and Falmouth and provides an ideal base to explore West Cornwall and its wonderful scenery and beaches.
Cusgarne House is a Grade II* Listed farmhouse which was leased by James Watt and his family between 1780-1800. James Watt is one of the most important engineers and scientists in history. His work on the modern steam engine has been said to have kick started the entire industrial revolution. The house was also visited by Winston Graham, author of the Poldark novels when he was conducting research into the Cornish mining industry during the period when James Watt resided at Cusgarne House. One of the principal characters in the Poldark novels was Elizabeth Chynoweth who came from ‘an old house in Cusgarne’.
The living/dining/kitchen area at Church Close Cottage is open plan with beautiful oak beams and a log burner in the sitting room, there is also a TV and DVD player. The well equipped kitchen has the benefit of a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine.
Bedroom two is on the ground floor which is configured as a twin, however, upon request can be made up as a super king bed. The ground floor bathroom has a bath, separate shower cubicle and WC.
Bedroom one on the first floor has a king size bed and glorious views over the extensive gardens, the third bedroom is a twin and there is a ‘Jack & Jill’ shower room with WC on the first floor.
Outside, the cottage has a south facing patio and an area for a BBQ, there are also extensive gardens which are shared with The Threshing Barn. The gardens are truly wonderful and the grounds have views to both the south and west. Cusgarne Cottages both have the use of a great games room with a table tennis table and beach equipment, which you are welcome to borrow.
