The Area
A short walk through the communal ground and off Beacon Drive is the coast foot path which leads to one of Cornwall’s most photographed Iconic land marks – the Wheal Coates engine house above Chapel Porth beach only 10 minutes from Mor Cliff. (See picture number 4) There is also a small blow hole near the Engine house which at high tide blows a spurt of sea water metres into the air!
From here you can walk down the cliff path into the cove at Chapel Porth and further along this dramatic coast all the way past Porthtowan to Portreath and even all the way past Gwithian and Godrevey Lighthouse into Lelant and on into St Ives. Alternatively there is a stunning (but much shorter!) walk back into Trevaunance Cove of about 3 miles which leads is home to the award winning pub the Driftwood Spas were they brew their own beer. This beach and fishing cove is steeped in local smuggling history and myth including the storey of the giant bolster who was fooled by Agnes to prove his love by letting his blood drain into an open cave and out to sea staining the cliffs red.
