Cornwall holidays set to be the hottest on record for 2016

It’s time to bring out the barbecues as 2016 is predicted to be the hottest year ever.

April was officially the hottest of record globally – the seventh month in a row to have smashed temperature records.

And the latest figures topped the record for the previous April by the biggest margin ever.

The figures, released by Nasa during the weekend, all but guarantee that 2016 will be the hottest year since records began.

The global temperature of land and sea was 1.11C warmer in April than the average for April during the period 1951 to 1980.
